The project Gifts and Occupations highlights and connects thoughts on how the view of the child shaped modernism and how the pedagogy that emerged in the late 1800s and early 1900s with roots in Rousseau's thoughts on the child was reflected in art and culture. The project takes as its starting point the material and social environment that is created around the child as a link in the vision for an equal and democratic society. A society in which each new generation is educated in getting to know and understand the world through their senses, actions, and interactions with others.
