Joining Paths 2019
Pequod visar, Malmö
The project Joining Paths takes as its starting point the work and history of the British educator Marion Richardson (1892–1946). Richardson published several books on handwriting and developed her own methods for teaching art to children. Her teaching was centered on the childrens own natural hand movements and she encouraged her pupils to create intricate patterns out of a variation of letters. The project Joining Paths is looking at signs and letters as patterns or images. The series of paintings is made from digital sketches and poses questions around the relationship between body and cognition, text and abstraction and the analogue and digital interface of handwriting.
